We had visitors from Queens, New York in to run the Chic-Fil-A 5K and spend a weekend of fun in Virginia Beach.
The race was on a balmy 80 degree morning with over 1300 finishers. Run in my favorite park in the area at the Mariner's Museum, it was a good experience to begin winding down our lives in Virginia with a trip around the familiar roads. The Museum's park houses the Noland Trail which contains the only hills you'll find in the southern Peninsula parks.
Overall, we had some good results with my finish in second and Jess' sisters' boyfriend Alex finishing seventh overall.
Not a bad morning result, but we had a lot on our plate including a trip up to Williamsburg for the Go Ape Zip Line and Obstacle Course at Freedom Park.

If you are going on vacation or have a chance in the near future to get to a Go Ape course I would highly recommend it. You are instructed on safety and zip line attachments then sent off on your own to go at your own pace and make your way through the obstacles. After completing each set of obstacles you zip off the top and take on your next challenge.

The course takes over 2 hours and is well worth the sore hands, sweat, and fatigue. It was a great way to spend the day. The course locations can be found at GoApe.com
If that wasn't enough for one day we spent the night at the carnival. Party on and run hard!
